All of us have been so consumed with coping with the Coronavirus that we could be forgiven for forgetting that a state budget needs to be passed.
The New York State Legislature will be coming back to Albany on Sunday, March 29 to prepare the state budget which is due April 1.

In the midst of the COVID-19 crisis, the state budget holds the potential for doing unnecessary damage to our medical system by cutting Medicaid, neglecting the homeless, increasing incarceration, making severe cuts in education, and shifting even more tax burden onto cities and counties at the very time that they are seeing sharp declines in other revenue like sales taxes.
